In Memoriam
Grayson Miles Buchanan
September 4, 2003 – August 1, 2021
Grayson Miles Buchanan passed away on August 1, 2021, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the tender age of 17 years 11 months and 332 days. His passing occurred as a result of an automobile accident while visiting lifelong friends for their first post high school road trip together. Grayson was a 2021 graduate of Clear Lake High School, where he played trumpet in the marching and jazz bands.
Grayson was many things to many people, most notably a loving and adored son, grandson, brother, cousin, and friend. His great loves were music and computers. During the pandemic he taught himself classical guitar and kept everyone in stitches with his silly musical interpretations and Kermit voice. He especially loved playing guitar with his dad Byron on the bass and sister Emma on the Ukulele. His favorite times were during holidays when his other siblings Spencer, Brittany and Bailey joined in on other various instruments and sang. Grayson also loved all things computer. He was an accomplished content creator, passionate gamer and coder. He also enjoyed photography, woodworking and restoring the old thunderbird with his dad. He posted so much content on YouTube- reflecting all of his talents. And they were without measure. He was simply beautiful, inside and out, and quick to help anyone in need. He brought a smile to the faces of everyone he met. His sense of humor was so quirky and hilarious, a little odd and oh so “Grayson.” A bright light in this world has been extinguished from view, but will shine on, brighter than ever, in the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Grayson was born in Houston, Texas, to Byron Miles Buchanan and Katherine Francesca D’Aunno-Buchanan on September 4, 2003. Grayson is survived by a multitude of friends and family members including his parents, Kate and Byron Buchanan; his brother and sisters, Brittany Ann Buchanan, Spencer Miles Buchanan, Bailey Alise Buchanan-Matheson, and Emma Katherine Buchanan; sister-in-law, Zelina Buchanan; brother-in-law, McCade Matheson; paternal grandparents, Carl and Gloria Buchanan; maternal grandparents, Lee and Bertha D’Aunno; uncles, Dominick D’Aunno, Matthew Adams, Jeffrey Potts, Billy Flanagan, Brian Buchanan, Jase Murphy and Carl Batts; aunts, Lori Murphy and Mona-Lee D’Aunno; cousins, Nicholas Buchanan, Laya Buchanan, Jonathan Buchanan, Alyssa Buchanan, James Buchanan, Kara Murphy, Harrison Batts and Samantha D’Aunno. Grayson was preceded in death by cousins Brian Michael Buchanan and Joshua Frazier. He will be mourned by several honorary uncles including Tony S. Vines, Chase L. Vines, Paul Lawrence, and Arnie Morein as well as his babysitter/honorary aunt China L. Vines-Daly and friends Dr. Shelly Walker-Adams and Christine Ribeiro. Grayson was lovingly cared for throughout his life by his and Emma’s “Nana,” Yolanda Leal, and her husband, Albert, along with their seven wonderful children. Grayson’s loss will be felt by a host of people, a number too great to entirely acknowledge here.
